Frida Kahlo - New York 1939

utterly fantastic.  i was introduced to frida kahlo’s artwork when i was 10 years old by my aunt, who showed me a kahlo artbook she owned and educated me on her life and outlooks.  lots of blood and ripped uteruses and self mutilation in her paintings.  it made an lasting impression instantly.
i felt sympathy toward her, and when classmates made condescending remarks about her visage when shown a self-portrait in the ninth grade, i took personal offence to it.
